Will.i.am - 'I Got it From My Mama'
At this year's Rush Week parties don't be surprised if you see some new sorority girl from Naperville bouncing around, singing, "I got it from my mama!"
Today's post involves a song that is so lame it's awesome. Nasty lyrics and a crunky chorus merge in this tune from Will.i.am to provide a perfect back-to-school party anthem. And in keeping with the jock rock theme, the video doesn't disappoint either.

Blaqk Audio - 'Stiff Kittens'
What if singer Davey Havok had joined an industrial rock band instead of his emo-tinged AFI?
Blaqk Audio - 'Stiff Kittens'
The side project of Havok and AFI guitarist Jade Puget sheds light on this question with the release of their single 'Stiff Kittens.' Although the electronic collaboration came to be nearly five years ago under the moniker Blaqk Audio, it wasn't until Tuesday that their alternative universe known as CexCells was able to be released.

Karaoke Singer Assaulted For Singing Coldplay
From Gigwise:
"After taking to the stage to perform the famous Coldplay number ['Yellow'], the unnamed man was verbally assaulted by a woman in the crowd.
The woman shouted: "Oh no, not that song. I can't stand that song!"
A Seattle police report then states that the twenty-one year old woman jumped onto the stage and punched the singer in the face in a bid to stop him singing the song. "
According to the article, this occurred at Changes Karaoke Bar in Seattle.
There is also a funny Craig's List page, speculating upon the angry woman's motives if you're interested.

Caught On Tape: Collective Soul - "The World I Know"
Drudgery of the work week got ya down?
Are you tired of the monotonous day-to-day,
The faceless shuffle of citylife?
If your demeanor as of late has been falling as quickly as the past week's Dow Jones, then perhaps you should consider this little music video to lift your spirits.
After all, there's more to life than a coffee & cigarette diet and the cold sweat of envy brought on by your coworker's new business card.
With the band's video for 1995's "The World I Know," Collective Soul collectively achieved a moving statement about the little things that make this life worth living. Things like... I dunno, pigeons and stuff.

Foo Fighters - 'The Pretender'
'The Pretender' is the first single to me made available from the forthcoming Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace. Unlike other tracks in The Foo's catalog, 'The Pretender' begins with a haunting intro before lurching into their signature neo-grunge wall of sound.

Rappers Cleaning Up Lyrics Post-Imus
From the AP:
"Four months after outrage over Imus' sexist and racial comments led to intense scrutiny of rap's negative imagery, and as the genre's sales continue to plummet, some artists are publicly abandoning offensive language.
The platinum-seller Chamillionaire recently announced that his new album, "Ultimate Victory," would be cuss- and N-word free. Numerous lesser-known rappers are promoting themselves as alternatives to misogynistic gangsta rap. The handlers behind 17-year-old sensation Sean Kingston are touting him as PG-rated. And the veteran gangsta Master P also declared that he would make clean music."
