Beabadoobee - 'Sorry'

 

Beabadoobee is the stage name of Filipino-born Beatrice Laus.  I first came across her work when I was listening to the KEXP Song of the Day Podcast.   Her latest single, 'Sorry,' was featured on November 13. 

The song's lagging yet forceful guitar sound, which materializes at the 2:06 mark, sells the song for me.  In a time where contemporary music seems to all but completely ignore the six-string, 'Sorry' definitely brings back the 90s nostalgia of dark, moody lyrics intersecting with lo-fi fuzz.
